POST-PERFORMANCE THOUGHTS

It was such an honor (and a dream-come-true) to perform Samuel Barber's KNOXVILLE: SUMMER OF 1915 with orchestra. A big thank you to Music Director Norman Gamboa and the Sonoma County Philharmonic for inviting me to lend my voice to this concert and for all of their support and enthusiasm (on-stage and off)! It was a delight to perform this piece and to collaborate with you in sharing this beautiful music with others!

The COVID-19 pandemic has ravaged the world and disrupted so many lives and livelihoods. This concert was made even more special for me, because, after a pause of 1 1/2 years, it marked my return to live performances with an audience. I cannot put into words how much live performance has been missed. Under the circumstances, it is a bittersweet blessing, which cannot be taken for granted. I'd like to take a moment of silence for those whom we have lost to this disease. They will be sorely missed, but will live on, cherished and celebrated, in our memories.

A big thank you to my friends, family, and colleagues for all of your kind words of encouragement and to those who came to celebrate the new season in person. A big thank you to Frank Johnson who introduced me to this amazing piece and helped me prepare for this opportunity.
