and Holiday Pops – A Concert of Music of the Christmas Season

on December 15, 17, & 21 @ 8 pm December 23, 2 pm, followed by Christmas Caroling, and the Arrival of Santa Claus

"Celebrated annually since 1927, the Bracebridge Dinner transforms The Ahwahnee into an 18th century English manor for a feast of food, song and mirth. The inspiration for this yuletide ceremony was Washington Irving's Sketch Book that described Squire Bracebridge and English Christmas traditions of that period.

"The Bracebridge Dinner is an elegant and artistic four-hour pageant of classic carols, Renaissance rituals and entertainment of the Middle Ages. More than 100 players create the roles of the Squire and his family, their servants, the Lord of Misrule, minstrels and other performers. The Ahwahnee Dining Room serves as the Great Hall and stage for the festivities and is decked with magnificent wreaths, an elaborate squire's table, large banners and traditional Yuletide decorations. The centerpiece of this revered event is a seven-course banquet of rich and wondrous dishes prepared by The Ahwahnee’s world-class culinary staff." Fall 2015 (September 28, 2015 - December 4, 2015)

This program is made possible, in part, by generous contributions from the following Chapters of San Francisco Opera Guild: East Bay, Marin, Sonoma, Peninsula and the San Jose Opera Guild.

OPERA À LA CARTE: DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE

A TASTE OF OPERA THAT’S HUGE ON STUDENT PARTICIPATION FOR GRADES 4-8

"In this signature program that serves more than 100 Bay Area schools each year, students have the opportunity to perform alongside a troupe of professional artists in a rousing 45-minute adaptation of Mozart’s beloved opera. Masterfully designed for young audiences, the English-language production features four professional singers, a pianist and docent who, along with your students, bring the wonder of opera to life in your school. Students prepare brief speaking roles in advance, are guided by artists in a final dress rehearsal and, with props, scenery and specially-designed costumes, perform for the entire school community. Schools may also choose to involve a chorus, giving additional students a chance to perform."

To discover the back story for the inspiration and creation of "Gatsby's Party," check out this article in the Press Democrat!

"It's America's Jazz Age again, so jump in your Chandler convertible and drive from "Manhattan" to Long Island's West Egg (CazSonoma Inn) in your top hats and spats, silks and satins, to dance the Charleston and dine delectably, as you are formally invited to Gatsby's Party! Daisy will be there with Gatsby, Tom, and Myrtle, even Wolfsheim, but the big question is, will you? Don't miss your chance to be immersed in this incredible production, brought to you by Sonoma's own Aidan O'Reilly & Oxford's esteemed director Ian Flintoff, author of "Gatsby at Trinity" and actor who has worked on stage with both the Royal Shakespeare Company and The National Theatre at the London Old Vic.

A portion of all proceeds will be going to the Cazadero Music Camp. For more than 50 years, Cazadero has offered a dynamic music education program that strikes a thoughtful balance between in-depth music education and carefree summer camp fun!"

About SFA:

"Sing for America brings chorus members together, from several different groups, in training for a concert, joined by professional choristers and noted soloists...much the same way one would train for a triathlon for breast cancer while fundraising online."

"A major share of performance and fundraising revenue is handed to each member to bring to their chosen beneficiary.  SFA also funds Artist performances, Arts Education, and Performing Arts Organizations."

Quoted from website: http://www.singforamerica.org/

The 2015 Sing for America Benefit Concert will include music by Leonard Bernstein, Timothy Jon Tharaldson, Richard Rodgers and much more.  Plus, our special guest choir is absolutely amazing!
